The mission of the Bread of Life Free Community Kitchen is to provide nutritious meals in a safe and secure environment and to share our food with those in need in Transylvania County.
We have a soup kitchen. The simple fare is as plain as our purpose: to share our food with those who have none.

About our clients….

We are here to serve all. Many who come to us are unemployed or under-employed (with an increasing number of unemployed heads-of-household), single mothers, emotionally and physically handicapped, and the elderly.

As the people we serve are often in need of other forms of assistance, we regularly refer them to other mostly local social service organizations such as The Free Clinic, the Transylvania Department of Health (TRAIN), Sharing House, the Haven homeless shelter and Meridian Mental Health and Addiction Center. We help them obtain food stamps, and make referrals for assistance with legal, emotional and conflict-resolution issues.
